Report indicates that worst fears could come true for Celtic fans over managerial appointment

We face a situation where the lack of an immediate managerial appointment leaves a vacuum for hysteria to develop in, while in many ways the club is damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

Hindsight has shown that Neil Lennon shouldn’t have been offered the job after his caretaker spell, so naturally you have to think taking the cheap option and going with Kennedy next year would be a similar disaster.

It’s also fair to say that the club would be panned if they immediately ruled it out because it would be seen as short-sighted, so a report from Give Me Sport makes for interesting reading.

They have cited claims that the Celtic board essentially want Kennedy to prove that he’s the man for the job, and he would then be offered the role if he could do that.

They go on to suggest that perhaps it could make sense because the trend in Europe just now is to employ previous players as managers even if they lack experience, but Kennedy is part of the failed regime and he hasn’t proven himself anywhere else so that doesn’t really ring true for him.

The general consensus among the Celtic support now points to a desire to see a high-profile name come in who will turn this team around and sign some big names too, so Kennedy getting the job will be the worst case scenario for many.

Perhaps he goes on to put a run of wins together and he proves that he’s the man for the long-term, but it just seems too unlikely at this point.
