Report states Celtic are interested in signing Northern Ireland defender

Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Northern Ireland International Ciaron Brown. The 23-year-old Cardiff City defender actually scored against Celtic for Livingston in January; however, GiveMeSport claims that Celtic are interested in bringing him to the club next summer on a pre-contract.

The player is available on a free contract with less than a year remaining on his current deal, which means he can leave Wales next summer. Mick McCarthy brought him into the side last year and Brown’s impressive performances lead to an additional year being triggered by the Championship side.

With two caps to his name, Brown will be best known to Celtic fans owing to his time at Livingston. The central defender even scored against Celtic last season. The report seems to say that Ange Postecoglou’s side are eyeing up Brown but given that they have signed Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, albeit on a loan to buy, it is unlikely that they are targeting any new replacements at this stage. Brown is likely a player that was on Celtic’s list but as it stands, the link is probably not much more than that.
