Scott Brown set for emotional Celtic Park exit, according to report

Scott Brown looks set for an emotional Celtic exit after 14 years, according to a sensational report by the Daily Record. Brown looks set to join Stephen Glass at Aberdeen ending an incredible spell with Celtic as the midfielder looks to transition into becoming a manager in his own right. The 44-year-old, who is favourite for the Pittodrie job, wants Brown to be part of his backroom staff if he gets the job. However the move will allow Brown to continue playing.

The pair played together at Hibs before Brown completed a move to Celtic in 2007. In that time, Brown became one of Celtic’s most decorated player, became an Invincible Treble winner as well as racking up the most European appearances for a Celtic player. Brown is expected to make the transition into management and you cannot rule out seeing him in the Paradise dugout at some point, although it would be a shame to see the player leave after this season.

It should be noted that this is merely paper talk at this stage so much like Tom Rogic last season, Celtic fans may be forgiven for awaiting the official confirmation before allowing themselves to come to terms with a potential departure.

Brown worked with the Celtic U20s in the 2015-16 season but decided to step back from coaching in order to focus on playing. Since that time, Celtic won 12 trophies in a row vindicating his decision to step back. Celtic should look to sway Brown back to remaining with the club as a major rebuild is about to begin under incoming CEO Dom McKay.

If the move does transpire, Brown will leave as a club legend and will be fondly remembered for his battling, uncompromising attitude in the middle of the park. It will bring down a curtain of the dominance for the club as Brown looks to exit. A rebuild is required but it is hoped that the club will make strides into modernising the footballing operations.
