Slavia Prague boss one of the favourites for Celtic job

Jindrich Trpisovsky has emerged as a potential candidate to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic manager. The Slavia Prague manager overcame Rangers in The Europa League as well as Leicester City earlier in the tournament. Now, Paddy Power have installed Trpisovsky as fourth favourite to be the next manager of the Parkhead side.

The Czech manager is highly rated in his homeland, winning two leagues and two cups in his time with the capital club. Most notably, Trpisovsky has been incredible in Europe for Slavia, punching well above their weight against teams such as Nice and Bayer Leverkusen. They will face Arsenal in the next round of the competition as well as looking to continue a 36-match unbeaten run.

The manager, 45, is known for his aggressive style racking up a win rate of over 70% but in Europe, he is known for rigid defence and fast counter-attacking football, flowing from back to front. He is also handy with developing players, Tomas Soucek, arguably West Ham’s POTY, is an example of that. The win over Rangers was overshadowed by a racist incident but the football showed dominance from the Czech side.

The favourite entry is Man City’s U23 boss Enzo Maresca, sitting at 15/8.The ex-Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is second favourite sitting at 2/1 whilst interim boss John Kennedy sits at 13/5. Former Celtic & Man Utd midfielder Roy Keane is joint-fourth favourite with Trpisovsky at 15/2.

Trpisovsky will likely already know how big Celtic are, with Slavia’s most famous boss an ex-Celt in the 1920s and 30s thanks to the coaching of Scottish manager Johnny Madden, who played for Celtic in their first ever match.

The Czech may well have Celtic superbly drilled, with barely room for Scottish players? With Rangers current success only brief? Rangers supporters must be dreading this guy taking over?
