Sebastian Tounekti had a huge say in Celtic’s rescue mission, against Dundee in the Scottish Cup fifth round tie at Celtic Park…

It got me wondering if the Tunisian winger is better utilised as an impact player?
With last night’s game against Dundee entering the latter stages, we needed a hero, someone to stand up and make the difference to avoid a shock cup exit, and the man who stood up and made the difference was Sebastian Tounekti.
The tricky winger replaced Yang with about half an hour remaining, and it would prove to be something of a masterstroke by Martin O’Neill as the Tunisian proved to be something of a game changer.

Staring defeat and exit from the competition right in the face, Seb surged into the Dundee box and provided a perfect assist for Junior Adamu to neatly tuck the ball into the back of the net for his first Celtic goal, and a vital one at that.
That goal rejuvenated a Celtic side who looked beaten, and they upped the ante in the early stages of extra Time, with Sebastian once more having a say as he scored a tidy goal which proved to the winner in the first minute of the extra period, with a nod to an excellent assist from Luke McCowan.
However it was the talented Tunisian who was the Celtic hero of the night, and Seb showed once more the huge potential he has in his locker. Unfortunately it won’t stop some supporters questioning his ability, his consistency and his place in this Celtic side. Luckily it’s only Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney’s view that counts and they certainly know a top player when they see one.
Admittedly, Seb looks a bit raw at times, which is only natural as he’s only 23 years of age, and has a lot of learning ahead of him, in what will hopefully be a long and successful career at Celtic.
I can only ask the question, is Seb’s talent not perhaps better utilised in another way? Such as a so called ‘impact’ player? You know, a player to bring on when the tide is against you, such as last night? It’s a reasonable question as he is one of those players who can play okay in patches, so why not utilise him in a way that benefits both the player and the side?
With the recent new signings bulking up the squad, we now have the strength and depth, and having someone like Seb to call on when we need some added creativity is a handy weapon to possess.
Well done Sebastian.

It seems like an age ago, since we were able to win a match from the bench?
So a very welcome sight last night, as been way to long in waiting imo?
Unfortunately, it still leaves plenty of food for thought for MoN and Maloney in the selection process, all the same?
Didn’t have any complaints about the selection of the squad last night, or even the starting line-up?
Yet again, to many failed again to deliver, which was most disappointing within the performance overall imo?
Couldn’t help thinking, was the non available team last night, stronger than the one that started last night?
Kasper, AJ, CCV, Arthur, Ralston, Engels, OX, Maeda, Jota, Kelchi and Osmand.
So not being able to field our strongest 11 this season, which has been the case, for some time now. Will take every victory that comes our way. Especially if it leads to any success gained on the way.
So 31 players in contention for positions, with only 4 now on the longer term injury list at present.
Never been a big fan of players thinking that automatic selection for starting positions, especially within today’s game, when the stakes are so high within every game we play at present.
Yet we haven’t been able to form much of a settled team, all season to date either imo?
So that’s potentially the biggest factor for MoN and Maloney to find solutions to, within the naming of a match day squad, until the end of this season now imo?
Yet adding the tools of impact from the bench, is most welcome for ourselves all the same?
