Striker’s Celtic Exit Confirmed in £3.5m Transfer

Celtic this afternoon officially confirmed that the transfer of Polish Under 21 striker Patryk Klimala to New York Red Bulls has now been completed. It’s the second raid on the fallen Scottish Champions by the Major League Soccer outfit after their capture last month of another Celtic attacker Cameron Harper.

Klimala arrived at Celtic in the January 2020 transfer window after impressing at his former club Jagiellonia in his home country. Yet the video footage appeared to show Klimala at his best breaking from deep in a side playing counter attacking football.

Questions really need to be asked about the logic in this kind of signing, together with similar projects like Marian Shved and Vakoun Issouf Bayo. Maybe Dom McKay will have a better ‘eye for a player’ than our outgoing Chief Scout/ Head of Recruitment/ CEO so Auldheid et al, no wonder the man had no time to read that 5 Way Agreement!

The 22-year-old striker made his Celtic debut shortly after arriving at the club in a 2-1 away victory against Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup. His first Celtic goal came on the opening day of this season, scoring the fifth and final goal in a 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies.

In total Patryk made 28 appearances for Celti , scoring three goals. He leaves Scottish football having won up a Scottish Cup medal back in December as Celtic secured the Quadruple Treble and he certainly enjoyed leading the celebrations!

Throughout his time at the club his attitude has always been outstanding and he leaves with the support’s best wishes for his time in New York.

Celtic are believed to have secured a deal that will essential refund the money spent – around £3.5m – bringing Klimala in from Jagiellonia.

All the best Polish Paddy…
