Talk of a mass player exodus from Celtic is silly

Since it was announced Ange Postecoglou was on his way to North London the rumour mill has been in overdrive linking our players with the exit door also.

Kyogo has been of course touted with a move to Tottenham without much substance, but Fabrizio Romano today reported that Matt O’Riley was on the radar of Brighton as well as interest from the Bundesliga. This has led to the panic stricken amongst the Celtic support to believe that it’s just a matter of time before the door opens for a mass exodus of players.

We could well see the departure of a couple of players, that is inevitable, even if Ange was still in charge that was a possibility, but talk of multiple players leaving? Behave.

The club are under no pressure to sell star players thanks to guaranteed Champions League group stage football, add to that the compensation received for Ange and the money spinning tour of Japan and South Korea, the coffers are fully topped up and under no pressure to be split over.

The ball is also in the clubs court regarding the contract situation regarding the players as the majority of our saleable assets are on long term contracts.

Talk of players spilling out the door is silly, it’s time for some optimism instead of the usual nonsensical worrying.

  1. I don’t know about a “mass” exodus but we should certainly be worried about losing some key players and if we do so be it. get the right man in as soon as possible and cull anybody not showing the right attitude. Seriously make them train with the youths until we punt them, I am actually looking forward to a change of style as we were never going to improve results in Europe playing that way, and some of the player’s attitude these last few weeks has been poor.
