The Balance Sheet Bhoys and Celtic’s £25million Bargain Price-Tag

NAPOLI defeated the Champions of Europe yesterday at Murrayfield. Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his players after their 3-0 win over Liverpool at the home of Scottish Rugby. Celtic had played there last October against Hearts in the League Cup semi-final and won by the same margin, and it has to be said that it’s a better stadium to watch football than Hampden – and it hold more.

Anyway Ancelotti was asked about his supposed interest in Kieran Tierney. We were going to write about this last night on The Celtic Star but decided not to, as there has been nothing in this story other than media speculation.

Arsenal have had two bids rejected as their offers have not come close to Celtic’s valuation of Kieran, that’s the story.

There has been NOTHING at all said by Kieran EVER about him wanting to leave Celtic. He had to go through all of this last summer, when our PLC fans got together, no-doubt under instruction, to sell the message that it would be morally wrong to stop KT joining Everton, if the £25million cheque was placed on Peter Lawwell’s desk.

Indeed at the time, in their enthusiasm to please, some went a little too far and the Tierney’s let it be known that Kieran had NEVER asked nor was pushing for a move.

Napoli’s supposed interest has been a side story this summer to Arsenal’s pathetic attempts to plead poverty, while trying to pinch Tierney on the cheap. The reports said that they had only £40million to spend this summer, yet bid £72million at the weekend for Lille’s winger Nicolas Pepe – see HERE.

Ancelotti, as he was in Scotland, was inevitably going to be asked about his supposed pursuit of Kieran Tierney. He simply confirmed that it is a non-story.

“Am I aware of Kieran Tierney?” he told the media, as reported by Scottish Sun.

“I know him and he is a really good player. He is a really good young left back but he is a Celtic player.

“We are looking for a lot of players for this coming season but he is a Celtic player and we have two good left backs. But honestly I can say he is a really good player.”

Of course this kills the Napoli to sign Tierney stories but also starts the Arsenal Boost as Napoli pull out of the Race stories.

Celtic have made no secret of the fact that they would like to cash in on Kieran Tierney, a home-grown talent who has played at the highest levels of the game and done brilliantly. But money talks at the PLC and £25million – reports are now saying it’s £30million – are the stuff of financial wet dreams for the Balance Sheet Bhoys.

Yet they are undervaluing Kieran, who along with Andy Robertson, is one of the best to left backs in British football. The number of Kieran’s jersey should have the letter M added at the end to tell the likes of Arsenal what they should be paying for such a talent.

Yesterday Niall J wrote an article about John Park NOT being Celtic’s Director of Football and the reasons why that has not happened. It’s titled ‘Lawwell simply can’t let go’ – Why Celtic don’t have a Director of Football like John Park.

The level of accuracy in this piece is remarkable really, have a look HERE.

Meanwhile here are all the quotes from Kieran expressing his wish to leave Celtic…
