‘The Maestro’ Anthony Ralston’s verdict on Celtic’s win at Fir Park

Anthony Ralston was giving his thoughts to Celtic TV today after the hammering Celtic gave Motherwell at Fir Park. Ralston was drafted back into the side after missing out against the Govan side in midweek. The player hasn’t done much wrong but Ange seems to prefer Greg Taylor at left-back and Josip Juranovic in his natural position, considering he is a Croatian international after all.

Having run out and strutted their stuff once again largely in the first-half this afternoon in Lanarkshire, it maintains our lead at the top of the League table and augurs well going forward. It’s always the test of would-be Champions if they can maintain their form over a consistent period of time – and with 13 games or so to go before the SPFL trophy is handed out, Celtic look to be gathering pace at the right time in the season.

Anthony played his part in the victory today, proving strong in the tackle once again, tidy in possession and holding good positions throughout the entire 90 minutes. He even played a worldy of a pass in the lead up to our third goal, which led a Celtic Twitter account into making a tongue-in-cheek comparison regarding his ability, citing why it reminded them of a certain former Celtic player and captain, nicknamed ‘The Maestro’. Steady on now, lads!

To be fair though, Anthony – as the same is with the rest of the defence – had very little to do in the game apart from an early second half flurry from Graham Alexander’s side. In circumstances such as today, it is so easy for teams to take their foot off the gas and slip into complacency by thinking the game has been won.

That is not the case with this Celtic team though, and players like Anthony Ralston reflect this attitude and culture within the Ange Postecoglou revolution. Gone are the days of players with putty for hearts playing for this Club. We’re in a new era. The Angeball era. And my goodness, it’s great to be a part of and watch.

Here is Anthony’s interview…

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
