Their 5 Way Agreement, LNS, Same Club Myth, Res 12, Decades of Failure – Is the Scottish FA Fit for Purpose?

DAVID POTTER’S interesting article on The Celtic Star this morning, A tremendous example of what must never be allowed to happen with Celtic – see HERE got me thinking.

Burley’s winner at Pittodrie on the way to stopping 10IAR

My boy, who was born in 1998, the day Craig Burley scored the penalty up at Aberdeen to give us a 1-0 win as the tensions grew as he tried to stop 10IAR, was at Hampden last night with his pals from University (supporters of various teams). Those boys in their lifetime have watched England qualify consistently for all the major tournaments. They have seen the Republic reach the finals, and Wales actually get to a semi-final and even Northern Ireland (sic) have done it – but they’ve never seen Scotland do it.

Is that down to the players? Well they come and go. The managers? Some dreadful appointments admittedly, particularly the Alex McLeish who was so clearly unsuitable to be in post, but there have been decent managers who failed too eg Gordon Strachan. The one constant is the Scottish FA and the way they run the game in Scotland.

‘Heaven Help Us,’ the Scottish FA reckoned that Alex McLeish was up to the job of managing Scotland

There were many empty seats last night but that wasn’t just to do with the terrible start that Scotland made made to this Euro qualifying group, which is effectively over. Yes we have the parachute option of the play-off thanks to James Forrest’s wee five goal purple patch last autumn against Albania and Israel.

Many seats were empty because if the way the Scottish FA have run the game, particularly in the way that they acted surrounding the events of the Rangers demise in 2012. Their secretive 5 Way Agreement, the Res 12 issues, the Lord Nimmo Smith stitch-up, their failure to re-open this after the Supreme Court decision, on it goes.

The clue is on the gates, although the media don’t show ‘Ltd’ in images they use these days

UEFA in recent weeks have been clear in their position on the racist and sectarian singing at Ibrox yet we hear nothing from the Scottish FA.

Then their is their pretence that the club formed from the ashes by Charles Green in 2012 after he failed to get a CVA with the Rangers creditors is somehow the same club as the one formed in 1872.

Remarkably the Rangers support despise them too, thinking that they have been hard done by, were ‘relegated’ out of spite as they were simply done over by a ‘crook’ (Craig Whyte not David Murray).

The conclusion? Scotland will not flourish until this lot are cleared out once and for all.

IS THE SCOTTISH FA FIT FOR PURPOSE? YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE…

WHAT are your own thoughts on the shambles of the Scotland national team? Do you even care?
