Thierry Henry has issued an emotional show of support for Kasper Schmeichel after the Celtic shot-stopper revealed his significant injury setback…
Speaking on CBS Golazo on Tuesday night, the Danish international confirmed he has sustained a major shoulder problem, with rehabilitation expected to sideline him for between 10 and 12 months.
The update came during a discussion featuring Schmeichel, Micah Richards, and his father Peter Schmeichel, prompting ex-Arsenal and Barcelona striker Henry to respond with a compassionate message.
He said: “I just wanted to wish all the very best,” he said. “I never had to deal with this type of situation in my career, but hopefully everything will be okay.”
“I’m not going there, because you were saying that it might have been your last warm-up and your last game. Hopefully, you are going to have the possibility to stop playing football on your own terms – that’s what I’m wishing for you.”

In a later part of the programme, Peter Schmeichel addressed his son’s injury, expressing concern about how it could affect him in continuing his career.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper said: “I don’t want it to end like this for him with an injury like that.”
“On Monday, we got the bad news – because this is seriously bad. I’m helping Kasper all I can, but of course, it’s going to hit me emotionally in a few days too… wow, Kasper’s career might be over because of this.”
“Of course, you can’t play with a broken shoulder – but he did and was out for a short period afterwards. You can’t imagine how bad it is for a keeper to get a shoulder injury. Every time you throw yourself to that side, you land on your shoulder.”
“In the match for Celtic against Stuttgart, he landed on that shoulder again and had to have another injection, and that gave a reaction that we didn’t want.”
“I could’ve potentially played my last football game.”
