Thomas Robert awaits Celtic appointments before decision on his future is made

Thomas Robert must await Celtic’s decisions regarding a new manager as well as a Director of Football before they sign off on the bringing the 20-year-old to the club. According to The Daily Record, the French winger is awaiting confirmation of the Celtic appointments.

The Airdrie starlet spent two weeks on loan at Celtic and despite positive discussions with Nicky Hammond, no deal will be sanctioned until a new management structure is in place.

Robert has been impressive for Airdrie since joining from Montpellier in the summer scoring four times. Robert, the son of ex-Newcastle star Laurent Robert, bizarrely chose to join the League 1 side despite interest from across Europe. He has some other interest from Scottish rivals but appears to be holding out for the move to Celtic, even if he faces an anxious wait over the new appointment.

Celtic have already agreed a pre-contract deal with Liam Shaw and are expected to make a move for Kyle Joseph from Wigan Athletic. Recruitment needs to be excellent from now until the beginning of the season as Celtic look to build back better. A new management team will hopefully be in place in the next few months as Celtic look to implement a new way of working under incoming CEO Dominic McKay.
