Steve Clarke has named three Celtic players in his squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 Qualifiers. The Ayrshire-born gaffer hashis squad on Wednesday for Scotland’s upcoming games against Georgia and Norway.
Scotland have already confirmed their place for the showpiece competition next summer in Germany but Clarke will be keen to finish off the qualifiers with maximum points.
Celtic skipper Callum McGregor is joined by defensive colleagues Greg Taylor and Anthony Ralston. With injuries to Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney and Aaron Hickey, there will be opportunities for both Ralston and Taylor to get themselves on the pitch and make an impact.
For CalMac, you’d be hoping that he is given a rest for one of the fixtures given the amount of games that the 30-year-old has to contend with. Clarke will, hopefully, see the benefits in spreading the minutes around his squad as each players tries to convince him that they deserve to be involved next summer.
David Turnbull is a player that may feel somewhat aggrieved at not being in contention. The 24-year-old has made 11 appearances this season, scoring 5 goals, and has been given more opportunities by Brendan Rodgers.
