Ticket boost as Celtic to receive over half of Cup final tickets

Celtic fans have been handed a boost by the SPFL as Hibs confirmed that they had received less than half of the tickets for the showpiece Final. This means that the Celts will take over 30k fans to Hampden. Hibs had less than 10,000 at the National Stadium for their win over Rangers. However, the Easter Road side believes that they should have an equal split for the Final.

In a statement released on their website, Hibs bemoaned the fact that they would receive just 17,500 tickets for the game next month, meaning that Celtic will be able to have more supporters in the ground, following the excellent support in the semi-final.

“As a club, we had a number of long and intense discussions with the SPFL fighting for an even split of tickets with Celtic for the Premier Sports Cup Final at Hampden Park, knowing our history of selling out tickets for cup finals and for sporting integrity. However, they have come to the decision that we will have an allocation of approximately 17,500 tickets for the match. A decision that we are incredibly frustrated about. We made our thoughts very clear.”

A James Forrest goal sealed a win over St Johnstone on Saturday meaning that Celtic will be back to Hampden on Sunday, December 19th.
