Time to get down to business as Brendan Rodgers meets and greets his Celtic squad

The Celtic players will today start to return to the training ground as they report back for a pre-season work out at Lennoxtown and of course it will also be the first session under the returning manager Brendan Rodgers. The players who were involved in international football since the Scottish Cup final will not be back today, as they have a few extra days holiday time agreed with the club.

There will be a few faces recognisable to Brendan but the majority of the squad will new to the Irishman. He will no doubt welcome himself and get across his message as to what’s expected of them and the know have not worked with the manager before will find out just how impressive an operator he is. First impressions can be crucial and last time around Brendan Rodgers made an amazing impact when he first met the Celtic players in the summer of 2016.

Brendan has inherited a good squad and this will give him a chance to run his eye over them, of course he will be looking to bringing in a few new faces, but it will be good for him to get accustomed to his new squad as the new season is almost upon us. The quicker they get to work the better.

After everyone is back Celtic will head for. training camp in Portugal before travelling to Japan for two matches then over to South Korea with the re-arranged fixture there set to be confirmed this week. Then it’s back to Scotland for the James Forrest testimonial against Athletic Club at the start of August before Flag Day against Ross County at Celtic Park a few days later when Brendan Rodgers sets about defending the title won so impressively last season.

It’s great to have the Bhoys back – COYBIG!
