Transfer Latest – Scott Brown wants Adam Montgomery on-loan at Fleetwood Town

Scott Brown has apparently been looking into getting Adam Montgomery on-loan from Celtic in this summer’s transfer window. The former Celtic skipper has been cutting his teeth in the management game in England’s League One since he left Aberdeen a couple of years ago and it now looks as though he might call in a favour from his old boss, Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers signed on at Celtic Park again for a second spell today with a three-year contract after leaving Leicester City before the end of the Premier League season. The club have returned to the former boss to lead the charge once more after Ange Postecoglou decided to part company and have his shot at the big time in England.

Montgomery, who was used frequently when Ange Postecoglou first arrived in June of 2021, pitched in well enough when the Hoops boss had to rebuild an entire squad following the end of an era at the club. However, Ange felt he needed more games under his belt to come back stronger and more equipped for regular first-team football at Parkhead.

According to a report in Daily Record, Brown is a big admirer of the left-back, who enjoyed a successful season on loan at St Johnstone last season, and has been for quite some time. The 20-year-old worked under the highly decorated former Celtic captain when he was assistant boss at Aberdeen under Stephen Glass a few seasons back. However, it remains to be seen how incoming boss Brendan Rodgers will view the young Scottish full-back.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
