Transfer Update – Celtic linked with Nigerian striker

A report has emerged from allnigeriasoccer.com that Celtic are keeping tabs on Randers forward Stephen Odey. The outlet claim that the Hoops have approached the Danish side over his availability and possible transfer fee. It comes as Ange Postecoglou has been rumoured to be looking at the striker position due to his lack of belief in Albian Ajeti to perform in his system.

The big attacker has been involved in fifteen goals the season just past – accruing 13 goals and two assists in the Danish Superliga for the East Jutland side. A sum of €4 million is reputed to have been discussed as the amount it would take to steal the Nigerian’s services from his current employers.

Whether it is just smoke is up for debate as the publication also make the assertion that our Glasgow rivals are interested and have more “concrete” talks in place regarding the African. It’s always necessary to take claims that both club’s are wanting the same player with a pinch of salt. Often agents try and drum up interest in their clients by using our good name as well as the club across the city in the media.

There has also been a €3 million plus add-ons bid form an unnamed club in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League for Odey.

About Author

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
