Turnbull reveals best position and his 10IAR aim

DAVID TURNBULL has spoken about his best position and his aim for the season having joined the club at the end of August. Speaking in the September edition of the Celtic View, Turnbull has revealed the position that he thinks is his best and what he aims to achieve personally and collectively as Celtic try and win 10 consecutive titles.

“Now, I just want to get myself as much game time as I can. I want to give as much as I can for the team, and I want to help them push for silverware in this important season. I’m looking to kick on and give more competition to the squad.

“I’d take any position but I’d probably say a number eight or number 10 box-to-box position. I like to do it all. I believe in my ability. I feel like I can come here and make an impact. I always believed in my ability. After the injury, not much changed. It was always in my head that I would come back and be the same player. I just took it day by day.”

The midfielder was the subject of interest from Neil Lennon’s Celtic last year in what developed into a transfer saga. The player was even pictured in a Celtic top with Neil Lennon doing his interviews before a rare knee injury was found in the medical and forced to call the move off.

Nevertheless, Turnbull endeavoured to keep working in order to get fit again and he reaped the rewards as Celtic came in for him again. This time, there was no issues with the medical and the Scottish Champions sealed a deal bringing the Scotland U21 international from Motherwell to Paradise.

Despite speculation that Turnbull’s arrival would mean the end for Tom Rogic at Celtic, the Australian was back training yesterday as he continues to build up his fitness after a knock. Neil Lennon will be hoping to have Turnbull and Rogic at his disposal as the Scottish Champions look to surpass Jock Stein’s record from 1974.
