Video: Captain Kelly And Fran Alonso React To SWPL Cup Success

Celtic Women made history by finally defeating Glasgow City to lift the SWPL Cup at Firhill this evening. Charismatic Celtic Women boss Fran Alonso has reacted to the triumph in his typically passionate way, describing the victory as “an amazing feeling.” Alonso went on to express his pride for the girls and the staff, before thanking the fans and stating that of his 15 years in football “this is his favourite game ever.”

Having got Celtic Women into the Champions League and now delivered a trophy, it’s not hard to see why Fran is loving his time in charge of the Hoops.

His joy was shared by captain Kelly Clark, who said that delivering the Women’s first trophy for a decade was an achievement for which she “has no words.”

“I just had a feeling that this was going to happen and it’s come true. It feels absolutely amazing,” she said with an unmistakable smile etched across her face, almost reflecting off the trophy held in her grasp.

What a great night for women’s football and for the girls at Celtic, who continue to go from strength to strength since turning professional.
