It’s 20 minutes long and tells the story of The Celtic FC Women captain journey from school football at Arbroath to qualifying for the Champions League and having to prepare a Huddle speech befitting of that very special occasion in Celtic’s history.

Both Celtic club captains, Callum McGregor and Kelly Clark will be featured in this way on Celtic TV, which is a brilliant development from the club’s media department.

Both Celtic captains have similar stories going back a long way having made their debuts in 2014 (Callum) and 2013 (Kelly) respectively. Celtic TV will look back on both captains’ careers in this club documentary series called Captains’ Tales.

Kelly Clark (#15) of Celtic Women FC celebrates her 200th appearance following the Scottish Womens Premier League 1 match between Celtic Women and Partick Thistle Women at Penny Cars Stadium, on 3 October 2021.

And Captain’s Tales kicks off this evening with Counting On Kelly that tells the story of how Kelly overcame stereotypes in her local town of Arbroath to forge a career that would eventually see her play two hundred times for Celtic. Remarkably, this was all done while studying and qualifying as a chartered accountant.

As well as hearing from Kelly herself, Counting On Kelly features the prominent figures who have helped her along the way. Her Dad, Murray, who has followed her career every step of the way and has the jerseys to prove it. Her first Celtic coach and now great friend David Haley, who recounts the emotion felt when they managed to qualify for the Champions League. Her boss at Deloitte, Kevin Doherty, and current Celtic FC Women’s Manger Fran Alonso detail how Kelly manages to spread her time across both her careers.

And Chloe Craig, her best friend and teammate, who gives an insight into some of the best times they have shared together in the Hoops.

A fascinating story told by those who know her best, you can watch Counting On Kelly now…
