Carlton Cole has cost a group of Middlesbrough fans £400 after the ex-England internationalist missed a penalty while on Soccer AM. Former West Ham and Celtic striker Cole was a guest on the Sky Sports show this morning discussing his career and the beginnings of his coaching career. Cole flopped at his time in Glasgow and is remembered for being one of the club’s most bizarre signings.
However, it was not what Cole did while on the couch that caused a stir, instead it was out the back when Middlesbrough supporters waited on Cole to score a penalty and deliver them £400 for their away day to Brentford.
Cole stepped up and attempted to chip the keeper but instead blazed his effort over the bar. Costing the Boro fans the prize pot.

Although, Cole felt bad enough to dip his hand into his own pocket and fund the Boro fans for his mistake. But in reality, they must have been thinking the worst when Cole attempted to strike a volley but instead hit a member of the audience.

At least some of Cole’s cash would’ve cushioned the blow that a 3-2 defeat thanks to a 87′ min winner from Brentford.
You have to admit, retirement hasn’t been as detrimental to Cole as some may have assumed as he appears to be as good as he was when he scored his first Celtic goal away to Inverness CT.
