Video – Celtic train in Austria ahead of today’s opening pre-season match

Celtic have released footage of Ange Postecoglou and his team training ahead of their first pre-season match against SC Wiener Viktoria in their Austrian summer camp. The Bhoys flew out to the country in Central Europe this week and will play two games – one against the aforementioned SC Wiener and then giants Rapid Vienna.

Ange had hoped to have all of his summer transfer signings in place beforehand, however, it has not panned out that way; even if he has already secured several high-profile targets to take with him to Austria. With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota making their loan deals permanent from last year, combined with the addition of Alexandro Bernabei and Benji Seigrist, we can’t be too downhearted at proceedings thus far.

One only needs to look at the events across the city to know we are strong and healthy even without everyone Ange would like in situ as he continues his rebuild throughout this pre-season. It doesn’t look like major target for the defensive midfield position – Vincius Souza – will be joining the merry band after all, meaning we will have to move onto other targets.

As Anthony Ralston had already pointed out, the regime has been tough and testing on the players. Although this is all good news for the supporters this upcoming year, as we look to emulate and even topple what we achieved last season. A domestic treble and winning a knockout tie in Europe would be a welcome addition to the Angeball revolution.

Have a look for yourself as the coaching staff – including new coach Harry Kewell put the players through their paces in our Austrian training camp:

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
