Video: Highlights of Celtic’s defeat to West Ham

Celtic were beaten 6-2 against West Ham yesterday in the final pre-season friendly ahead of the FC Midtjylland second leg on Wednesday. David Moyes’ side arrived without some of their star players but still named an extremely strong XI. Celtic’s midfield and attack looked strong but the defence again looked threadbare, something that would be extremely apparent over the course of the game.

Celtic started strongly with Edouard, Christie and Abada all threatening going forward. Callum McGregor broke the deadlock with an excellent strike but this was short-lived as defensive mistakes allowed West Ham to get ahead thanks to Antonio (x2) and Noble (pen). Vasilis Barkas made two saves but his positioning for Antonio’s second heightened speculation as to whether he is good enough to be the club’s No.1. The second half started with a Ryan Christie goal but West Ham scored three more – through a combination of direct play and Celtic mistakes.
