Video: Montpellier confirm Christopher Jullien signing

Christopher Jullien’s welcome to Montpellier video confirms that the deal has been confirmed – some folk were asking if the deal has been officially announced by the clubs after our story confirming his one million euro move from Celtic from earlier this afternoon. For those asking, Montpellier confirm the signing of the Celtic defender HERE.

“I am very happy to join MHSC,” Jullien said. “I immediately felt a warm spirit, everyone welcomed me. Now I can’t wait to get started.

“I have ants in my legs. I left Ligue 1 quite a while ago now and I’m happy to be back.

“A new page is opening here in Montpellier and I am very happy about it. I can’t wait to meet the Montpellier supporters at the State de la Mosson and I hope that we will have some great adventures together.”

Jullien will wear the number 6 jersey for the French side and can’t wait to get started after missing first team football for around 20 months. There are add-ons in the deal, presumably playing related so a run in the Montpellier team should see Celtic’s revenue from this deal swelling, but there’s no doubt that the knee injury Jullien suffered in that match against Dundee United, in the covid season where nothing went right for Celtic has cost Celtic millions and the player almost two years of his playing career.

Montpellier’s medical was understandably rigorous and lasted the best part of a day but Jullien sailed thorough that successfully. Now he’s desperate to get back out on the pitch playing football again, and we wish him the very best of luck.

And Celtic have officially confirmed that Christopher Jullien has signed for Montpellier on a permanent deal.

“Christopher Jullien has joined Montpellier on a permanent deal. Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Chris for his contribution to the club and wish him good luck for the future,” Celtic tweeted.

And Christopher Jullien has now posted his own farewell message to Celtic…
