Video: Scottish Media’s Contempt For Ange On Show Again, As Celtic Boss Is Asked Yet Another Patronising Question

Today, the world of football awoke to the sad news that former Rangers, Everton and Scotland manager Walter Smith had passed away. Tributes came in from Smith’s friends and former colleagues, as well as those from across the Glasgow divide.

Ange Postecoglou was among those to place his respects on record, commending Smith on “reaching the top of his profession” and referencing all that he achieved in the game. However, prior to being given the chance to talk about the iconic Scottish manager, Ange was subjected to the condescending question of whether or not Walter Smith was a name he had heard of.

The Celtic gaffer sarcastically laughed at the interviewer, before commenting “Australia I know”; a mark of his disappointment at repeatedly being patronised by the Scottish press. Indeed, it was only a few weeks ago that he was asked whether he knew anything about Hearts, to which he replied that he “hasn’t come from outer space!”

It’s high time the Scottish media stopped taking Postecoglou for a fool and respected the fact that he has managed at a World Cup. If they don’t, then they will continue to be firmly put in their place by the 16-time trophy winning boss in the Parkhead hotseat.
