Former Celtic right-back Mark Wilson was interview outside of Celtic Park this morning for Sky Sports, reflecting on the events at Easter Road and Ibrox yesterday which left the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership at 3 points.
The draw between Hibs and Celtic gave the latest Ibrox club a huge opportunity and with a 2-0 half-time lead few if anyone would have been holding out any hope at all of Motherwell getting anything from the game. Thankfully however that’s not how it turned out and after been boosted by Celtic dropping their first points of 2022, theRangers support were left hugely deflated and angry at their side’s capitulation against the Steelmen.
Wilson does reflect the concern of many Celtic supporters concerning yesterday’s performance at Easter Road and makes a very valid point about the curious lack of substitutes used yesterday when it was clear that Celtic were toiling to break down a defensive-minded Hibs team.
Before going to Ibrox Celtic have St Mirren and Ross County at home with Livingston away sandwiched in between and all three teams are likely to park the bus. The Dundee United Scottish Cup quarter final will perhaps be the only game where the opposition are going to make a game of it and in a cup-tie anything can happen. In the league however Celtic should be targeting nine points in these three matches ahead of the Glasgow Derby.
Hopefully Giorgos Giakoumakis has recovered from his illness and will be ready for Wednesday night. He is going to be needed to help get us over the line.
Here’s what Mark Wilson has been saying on Sky Sports this morning…
🗣️”There weren’t many real performances yesterday, pretty flat and that zip has gone from Celtic at the minute…”
