Brendan discussed the ongoing row over the disallowed Daizen Maeda goal at Easter Road on Saturday in the 2- 1 defeat to Hibs, spoke about Philippe Clement who last night was sacked by theRangers and talked about the threat that Jimmy Thelin’s side has ahead of the eagerly awaited match-up tomorrow night.

Here’s everything that was said in Brendan Rodgers’ latest media conference…

Q: On Saturday’s game, have you had a chance to look at it and what have you spoken to the players about since the match going forward?

Brendan Rodgers: “We analyse the game like we do every game. I still feel that we should have had something from the game. Especially in the second half, in the first half we didn’t make a good start. But I didn’t overthink it either because the players have been absolutely fantastic for me this season. The consistency and the level that we’ve shown over many months have been at a really high level. We didn’t make a good start in the game, which is always something that you want to do. We didn’t quite do it. t was a disappointing first half, we made a great reaction second half. We should have had an equaliser, which could have given us momentum even to go on and win the game. It didn’t happen and we just have to move on from that and look to our next game now.”

Q: Just on the goal that didn’t stand, have you spoken to Willie Collum at all this morning? Have you spoken to anyone about seeing footage of why the decision was overturned?

Brendan Rodgers:  “No, I don’t think there’s any more footage on it. I think the club go through the process. We don’t make statements and do all sorts of things. We just go through the procedure and the process, which is for the club to speak to the SFA and just get a feeling of what they think. Obviously, we haven’t had any back yet. My feeling is still the same having watched it and seen the various images. There are a couple of images that you see where the illusion is that it’s out, but then there are others that will look like it’s clearly in.

“I’ve seen one image of one right on the actual goal line which was an incredible shot really and that looked in. It’s more the process really. I was disappointed for the guys in the game, Steve and the referee and the linesman, because they actually got it correct in the game. I didn’t feel that they should have been overruled on that without a definitive answer which is what I said at the time.”

Q: Do you think it’s something that Scottish football should be looking to implement? Is that at the top of the to-do list? Should we be getting goal-line technology cameras along the line so we get these decisions right in the future? Or are there more pressing concerns, do you think?

Brendan Rodgers: “Listen, it’s all about what you can afford, I suppose, within the league. There may be other priorities. Certainly, within the game, if it’s something that the game can afford to be able to do, then of course you wouldn’t have scenarios. Sorry, you would have scenarios, but you would have the clarity that you would get with the goal line technology.”
