“We’ve got 19 out of the last 21 possible points which is a fantastic run,” Fran Alonso

Fran Alonso couldn’t hide his pride in his side ahead of this afternoon’s match away to Hearts. The Celtic manager, speaking ahead of today’s game to the official Celtic FC Women website, noted that the team has picked up 19 points from a possible 21 in a run of form that if it continues will see Celtic qualify for the Champions League next season.

“We have a big squad and we have to utilise it because it was a very demanding game on Wednesday so we will see some changes in the team. The ambition will be to try to get all three points though for sure – we’ve got 19 out of the last 21 possible points which is a fantastic run for us.

“We have very good memories of Hearts – the last time we played there it was our highest score of the season, but it’s almost impossible to repeat that, so we will concentrate on getting the three points. We beat them 3-0 at home last month, but they made things difficult for us so we will review the game together and see what we can do better, but try to repeat that great performance,” Alonso said.

“You don’t have time to do a lot of tactical changes, but I think they will be pretty much the same, so tactically we can adjust better, but they are a much improved side from when we played them the first time and they’ll make it difficult for us.”

The game is live on the BBC Scotland website and kicks off at 1pm. Team news will be up shortly…
