AC Milan have a plan for £23m rated Celtic ace if they can sign him

We all know that certain players will see Celtic as a stepping stone, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

It allows them to sign talented youngsters who know they will develop and improve at the club, and if the fans get to see a few great years and the club makes a big profit when they move on then that’s a good way to do business.

The biggest issue for the players is actually deciding where and when to move. It’s easy just to take the biggest offer that comes along, but that could ruin their career in the long term.

It’s also common to see clubs who will just spend a lot of money in the transfer market without coming up with a tactical plan for their new arrivals, which can also set the player back.

Kristoffer Ajer has been heavily tipped for a move this summer, and a report from HITC does make it sound like a move to AC Milan could be an interesting one.

They suggest that Argentine defender Mateo Musacchio is likely to move on, so Ajer is being eyed as a possible successor and the long term partner for Alessio Romangoli.

If that’s true then it’s easy to see the Norwegian fitting in and playing a positive role for Milan. Romangoli is left footed so immediately his pairing with Ajer would have a natural balance, while the Italian also likes to sweep in behind to gather any loose balls.

That would offer Ajer some freedom to step out of the defence with the ball when needed, and it has the makings of a successful pairing.

The report goes on to say that Milan are prepared to pay around £23m to sign Ajer which is a significant amount for a defender, and it might be tough for Celtic to turn that down.
