Kieran Tierney will NOT be joining Celtic on loan from Arsenal in the January transfer window after the Premier League club blocked the move…

Kieran Tierney will return to Celtic in the summer
Instead Tierney will see out his current contract with Arsenal and will collect around £110k per week as he focuses on helping Arsenal attempt to win the Premier League. At the end of this season the player will head back to Glasgow to re-join Brendan Rodgers at Celtic after agreeing a pre-contract deal with the Scottish Champions.

Arsenal had a one year option on Tierney’s current deal but decided against taking that forward due to the Scottish international’s injury problems. That opened the door for Celtic but instead of a quick-fire return the Celtic support will have to wait until the summer to see KT in the Hoops once again.
Daily Telegraph report on Arsenal decision to block loan move to Celtic
Mike McGrath, football writer at Daily Telegraph has reported:
‘Kieran Tierney will stay at Arsenal for the final six months of his contract to be part of a Premier League title push before returning to Celtic in the summer. Pre-contract agreed.’

With Alex Valle leaving Celtic this week that leaves Brendan Rodgers short of cover at left-back, although Adam Montgomery has been seen training with the first team. Reports this morning pointed to Celtic interest in a short-term loan for Manchester United left back Tyrell Malacia and this could have been prompted by Celtic having advance warning of Arsenal’s decision to retain Tierney for the final months of his current contract. That is well within their rights.

Fun fact: The Arsenal manager once played his football in Scotland at a club that no longer exists.
