Celtic coach’s inside track on Vakoun Issouf Bayo

CELTIC coach John Kennedy met new signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo when he arrived in Dubai at the end of last week. Kennedy put the 22 year old through his paces doing some conditioning work before Bayo headed back to Slovakia to say his goodbyes to everyone at Dunajska Streda.

“He has done a bit of work with the conditioning guys,” Kennedy told the Celtic View.

“He came to the Dubai camp and was only there for the last two days, so he was mostly doing some fitness work.

“What the manager has seen in him is that he’s got a good presence, good speed and he’s athletic.

“In and around the box, he’s also very powerful, he’s very aggressive in the air.

“When teams are camped in and trying to defend the box, he’s the type of player who can give you the option of going around the outside, getting balls into the box and that’s where he comes into his own.

“He scores a lot of his goals from set-pieces and cross balls.

“He’s different in terms of balance from the other boys we have brought in.”

And Lubo Moravcik has already pinpointed the heading ability of the new arrival as a massive plus for Celtic.

“Celtic are a team who often dominate games, they get a lot of set-pieces, so I think a player who can in and affect that part of the game will be very important to the club,” Lubo stated.

Here are Bayo’s career goals if you’ve not seen them yet, turn down the sound though!
