A boost for Celtic supporters this morning with the club confirming that they have been able to replace the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers with Hampden hero Callum Osmand in the club’s UEFA player list, applicable from the game tomorrow evening away to FC Midtjylland in Denmark…

Carter-Vickers had his achilles operation last week after picking up the injury in the previous Europa League contest against Austrian champions SK Sturm Graz at Celtic Park. Celtic’s Big Strong Man was seen at Hampden on Sunday with his leg in plaster as he watched on as Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side put on a show to knock theRangers out of the Premier Sports Cup at the semi-final stage.

The game was effectively settled when young substitute Callum Osmand brilliantly anticipated Kieran Tierney’s brilliant ball fired across theRangers six yard box to give Celtic a two goal cushion and ultimately a 3-1 victory.

Callum Osmand joined Johnny Kenny at the opening of the new Celtic Flagship store in Glasgow city centre yesterday afternoon and speaking to Conor Spence from The Celtic Star, he revealed that he would probably be on the plane to Denmark today and would be a late addition to the squad.
That has now been officially confirmed by Celtic this morning with the club stating:
“We can confirm that striker Callum Osmand has replaced Cameron Carter-Vickers on our UEFA player list following Cameron’s unfortunate long-term injury.”
Shaun Maloney, in an interview with Celtic TV which we featured on The Celtic Star this morning, explained why he recommended Osmand to incoming interim manager Martin O’Neill, believing that his former manager at Celtic two decades before, would absolutely love the young striker.
A delighted Osmand got his first professional goal on Sunday at Hampden and described it as the best day of his live. Now he’s been added to the Celtic squad and will be looking to get on the scoresheet in his first European match tomorrow night.
He’s certainly living the dream at Celtic!

Great news, if somewhat surprising.
Brilliant that we are starting to get a settled squad back in operation for ourselves.
2 young strikers in place now that I believe we can get find behind, and our support can be a massive confidence boost to both Kenny and Osmand now imo.
The surprising aspect for myself anyway, is where does that leave kelchi now with ourselves?
Also running the risks of only 3 CBs available within our squad.
Must admit to be confused by the status of Kenny within our squad. Was convinced he qualified as a homegrown player for ourselves, with signing as an academy player, and doing the 3 year stint as one. Not so sure that he actually meets the criteria to be regarded as one any longer?
With that in mind, why was Welsh allowed to leave on loan, and Pusey was bought in, when no place available for him within our europa league squad?
Would like to think that our squad building process can get tidied up in January, as it is still looking like a mess in the depth department, especially if we still have a number of players who aren’t within the managers plans for the remainder of this season imo?
Great news!
Enough cover for defenders wi KT, who can play LCB tae, Donovan & Murray, (both young but will still be gid 🍀players in the future).
