Celtic loanee banned for stamping on opponent

Crewe Alexandra’s on-loan Celtic midfielder, Scott Robertson has received a three-match suspension after stamping on an opponent during Friday night’s match versus Bolton Wanderers. The precocious talent has been doing well in English League One with Crewe, after a successful spell at Gillingham Town in the past.

Despite earning rave reviews himself, Robertson and his loan club are in a relegation battle – sitting at the foot of the League One table. Friday night’s result merely compounded this fact, with Crewe succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the University of Bolton Stadium. The Railwaymen as they are known are at rock bottom after only 1 win in 17 games so far this season.

BBC Football report that Robertson admitted to his culpability of violent conduct breach of FA Rule E1.1, accepting the “standard penalty”. Now the midfielder will miss the games against, Gillingham, Ipswich and Wimbledon in the weeks ahead. Unfortunately for Crewe they will be without the tenacious youngster for the immediate future at a time when they can least afford it.

There was suggestions that Scott could return to the club in January, if Ange Postecoglou felt he needed more depth in the central areas. Updates from down the road regularly credit Scott with man of the match performances, whilst the Crewe Alexandra fans have certainly taken to him.

Perhaps there is a place in this Celtic squad for him come the New Year?

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
