Neil Lennon has named a 21-man provisional squad who will be available for selection when Celtic take on the Rangers in the final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park on Sunday.
Celtic have been thwarted by injuries for the entirety of the 2019/2020 season. A number of their first-team stars have been hurt at some point of the season or another. Fortunately, the depth of Neil Lennon’s squad has meant that they have managed to keep on producing positive results. But there were genuine fears among the fans leading up to Sunday’s final with players like Odsonne Edouard and Mohamed Elyounoussi in doubt.
Now there is some good news though as both Edouard and Elyounoussi have been named in Celtic’s provisional squad for the League Cup final. Two other major inclusions are that of Boli Bolingoli and Hayes, both of whom have missed the last few games with injuries. With Greg Taylor cup-tied, Celtic could have been in trouble if they were not fit in time. But it appears that Neil Lennon will not have to look towards a makeshift left-back in the big game.
Celtic provisional squad:
Fraser Forster
Craig Grodon
Jeremie Frimpong
Moritz Bauer
Boli Bolingoli
Jonny Hayes
Kris Ajer
Christopher Jullien
Tom Rogic
Nir Bitton
Scott Brown
Callum McGregor
Olivier Ntcham
James Forrest
Mohamed Elyounoussi
Mikey Johnston
Ryan Christie
Lewis Morgan
Scott Sinclair
Leigh Griffiths
Odsonne Edouard
The Celtic Star Editor gave his predicted starting eleven yesterday, although it is always a tough challenge second guessing Neil Lennon’s team selections as he likes to throw in a surprise or two. He reckons Celtic would start like this.
Forster
Frimpong, Ajer, Jullien, Bolingoli
Brown, McGregor
Forrest, Christie, Elyounoussi
Edouard.
That’s just about as strong as Celtic can be and it should be enough, barring Willie Collum taking centre stage to bring the Cup back to Paradise. Incidentally, his prediction was Celtic 3 the Rangers 1. COYBIG…
