Celtic have been named alongside some of the world’s biggest clubs in the Football Brand Value list. Celtic are one of just four teams outside of England, Italy, France, Spain and Germany to be named on the exclusive list, emphasising just how big the club are.
According to Brand Finance’s Football Brand Value, Celtic are within the top 50 brands in world football based on a number of metrics, joining teams like PSG, Manchester City and Liverpool on the list. However, there is no place for Cinch Premiership runners-up Rangers, who continue to exist in Celtic’s shadow.
Real Madrid, who won the Champions League by beating Liverpool in the final in Paris, were named as the biggest brand in football – replacing Bayern Munich. Carlo Ancelotti’s team are valued at €1.6m, whilst Celtic are ranked at £96.4m, a 19% increase on the previous season.
Celtic have been named 44th overall, up four spaces from last year. Ange Postecoglou masterminded a League and League Cup double in the Australian’s first season. With a return to The Champions League group stages next season, you would expect The Scottish Champions to climb the list again.
Celtic are joined by Ajax, Benfica, and Flamengo as the only teams out with the top 50 teams on the list, emphasising the financial power of the top five leagues. Remarkably, Celtic are ranked 18th in Brand Strength. It is a testament to the power of Celtic’s brand that they are continually recognised as being one of the largest club’s in world football and you can only imagine that this will continue to grow.
