Celtic news round up: Mixed news on Forster and Elyounoussi, another Ajer boost and competition over striker signing

Most of the Celtic news has revolved around retaining the current squad in the past few days, and it’s actually starting to sound like good news.

Keeping Fraser Forster has to be the number one priority, but there was always going to be concerns about the potential transfer fee and his wages.

The ideal solution could be close, after reports indicated that he was closing in on a new loan deal with Celtic, with some kind of decision expected in the next couple of days.

Unfortunately that report also states that Mohamed Elyounoussi could be given a chance to impress at Southampton this season, but it seemed inevitable that he wouldn’t be back anyway.

The expression that no news is good news often turns out to be true, and that seems to be the case with Kristoffer Ajer today.

His previous agent was desperately trying to get him to leave and that resulted in multiple reports a day linking him with every club in Europe, but that’s changed since it was confirmed that Ajer had stopped working with him.

There haven’t been any credible reports today linking him with an exit, so that has to be welcome news from a Celtic point of view.

In terms of a new addition the name Adrian Grbic may become familiar as the rumours about him continue to gather pace, but it sounds like Celtic will need to move soon after Ligue 1 side Lorient made an approach to sign him.

And finally, just in case you aren’t tired of watching the null and voiders being firmly put in their place, here’s Leigh Griffiths making a very good point about Celtic’s most recent title win.
