Celtic to Reach out to Sheffield Wednesday winger?

It’s that part of the year when the transfer window merry-go-round starts to initiate for the first time. Some can see it as a nightmare; players are lost almost every year and with a failure to replace them, January is a month of complete dread.

Some, however, marvel in its existence; namely Jim White, who takes the role of theme park manager, ordering his little minions such as Kaveh Solhekol and Dharmesh Sheth to turn the carousels on and throw away the keys until the 11pm deadline, making rumours up every second along the way.

This time, it is Carlton Palmer’s turn to create such a rumour; and this time it involves the Bhoys. Adam Reach, Sheffield Wednesday’s 27-year-old winger, is the player Palmer links to Paradise, and with the winger being out of contract in the summer it seems like an attainable transfer.

Reach has already been linked with Celtic in the past; in fact, over the last month he has been linked with both the Green and Blue sides of Glasgow via the Lancashire Telegraph, so it is likely that the Chester-le-Street-born player may already be on the Celtic radar.

And the rumour has been further pushed by former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer. Palmer, who earned 18 England caps in his heyday as a Premier League stalwart, has claimed that Celtic and theRangers interest definitely needs to be followed up, given that the man who was recently rated at over £5m is out of contract in the summer.

Speaking to Football FanCast, with quotes attributed to thisisfutbol, , Palmer said: “Adam hasn’t really fulfilled his potential. He’s another one on big money at Wednesday and he’s out of contract at the end of the season, so I could see that being a fit for Celtic.”

With Sheffield Wednesday already facing financial irregularities this window, Celtic may be best suited to a fee-deal which sees Reach join up with his potential new-team mates – and with the Frimpong money having arrived, we may just see this happen.
