Christie’s Celtic Da is a Right Charlie

CHARLIE CHRISTIE has been at it again and no doubt the Celtic players will enjoy pulling his boy’s leg in training tomorrow. Ryan seems perfectly happy at Celtic and is in the process of sorting out a new contract which in this climate is good news for him and it is also good news for Celtic.

So all parties are happy and the new deal is due to be sorted out over the coming weeks. Why then does Christie Senior have to make a right Charlie of himself – again!

It was only a few weeks ago that we were writing about the Super Sensitive Christie’s after Ryan’s Celtic Da put his size tens in it and now he’s done it all over again.

This time he’s talking up his boy’s prospects of making a success of a move to England, although he was also sick to add that he’s happy enough at Celtic. A bit of tactics maybe, don’t undervalue my boy, Peter. Pay him what he’s worth or maybe someone else will.

Peter Lawwell has seen and dealt with all that stuff for years now and is unlikely to be paying anyone over the odds these days. And the financial climate at any particular club from south of the border may or may not prove to be stable. Sometimes for an astute and money conscious Highlander a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush. Charlie knows that though, right?

Charlie once again refers to the stat from last season where Ryan scored 20 goals from 49 appearances but never mentions that he did have a dip in form after a brilliant start to the season.

“Ryan is very ambitious and he loves playing for Celtic,” Charlie stated to Glasgow Times. “But I have no doubt there will be other clubs looking at him. To score 20 goals from midfield by March, it would be mad for scouts not to have him on their radar, and I mean at the very top level.

“I would temper that by saying that he’s having the time of his life at Celtic. He’s got a nice flat in a nice area of Glasgow and he says there’s a real bond in the changing room and he’s very close friends with a lot of guys in there.

“I think Ryan could play at that level, there are a lot of Celtic players who could. They have an abundance of talent. We watch the English Premier League and see how John McGinn has thrived, how Stuart Armstrong is doing so well. I just don’t think we give our players enough credit.”

So that’s Charlie had his say. Over to you Ryan to do your talking on the pitch and get the contract extension you want and Celtic wants. Thought your boy played well in Paris, Charlie.
