Dinamo Zagreb make contract offer to Celtic defender

Dinamo Zagreb has now made Celtic defender Greg Taylor a contract offer…

Dinamo Zagreb has been monitoring Taylor’s situation at Celtic

The Croatian outfit have been tracking the Scottish international with a view to bringing him to the club we faced in this year’s UEFA Champions League group phase. The Celts managed a 0-0 draw in Zagreb back in December in what was a rather forgettable spectacle for the purists.

Brendan Rodgers’ side just couldn’t muster the attacking vision or creativity that evening in Croatia and it led to a dull stalemate but nevertheless, added to our points tally which has earned us a play-off place. Now it seems as though our former rivals may take our current number one left-back from us, as we cannot agree a deal with Taylor and his representatives for improved terms.

Source appears to be close the the player’s agent

Teamtalk have now run with an exclusive from journalist, Fraser Fletcher, who has revealed that the Zagreb club have made Taylor an offer for when his contract with the Scottish Premiership Champions ends this summer. He has claimed that talks are progressing and that it’s entirely up to Greg now what he wants to do with his future.

Celtic and Taylor’s valuations on a new deal miles apart

It still remains to be seen if Greg fancies the move away from Scotland to Croatia with Dinamo, but one thing is for sure: him and the club are still well apart in terms of valuation for him to extend his stay in Glasgow’s East End. With time ticking and other suitors offering the left-back options, it’s looking less and less likely that the player will still be here next season when his compatriot Kieran Tierney returns to the club.

Brendan Rodgers has repeatedly said that he wants Taylor to remain at the club so hopefully that can still happen. It is looking increasingly unlikely.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
