Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports this evening that Celtic striker Daniel Cummings has agreed to join West Ham, officially becoming a West Ham player on 1st July after his deal at Celtic expires…

‘Daniel Cummings will join West Ham on July 1st, agreement done and here we go!’ Romano reports, using his using catchphrase for confirmed deals. He continues: “Celtic talent has scored 30 goals this season and made his Champions League debut at Villa Park.”
All these goals came for the Celtic B Team, mostly in the Lowland League, which is the fifth tier of Scottish football. There were some notably moments from Cummings in the youth Champions League matches this season. The last we saw of him in a Celtic shirt was in the 1-0 defeat to theRangers B Team at Firhill in the Glasgow Cup final, where he failed to impress the watching audience on Celtic TV and Premier Sports. The match was played behind closed doors.

Fabrizo Romano concludes his update be reporting that the outgoing Celtic player has had his medal and confirms the level of compensation that Celtic will receive from the Premier League side.
“Medical complete and deal done. Celtic will get €300k training compensation,” Romano states.
Celtic turned down a deadline day move from West Ham in the January window, as the bid was no more than the sum the club would receive in the cross-border competition. Brendan Rodgers took the decision to include Cummings in his squad for the Champions League match at Villa Park, with Cummings getting a few minutes at the end of the 4-2 defeat.

Those minutes would amount to his entire first team story as a Celtic player and mirrors Ben Doax’s time in the Celtic first team when in late January and early February 2022, Ange Postecoglou gave the then 16 year old minutes against Dundee United and then theRangers at Celtic Park.
It made no difference as Ben Doak headed down to Liverpool at the end of that season.

Last summer Celtic lost both Daniel Cummings to Millwall and Rocco Vata to Watford.
All four former Celtic Academy players mentioned are self-confessed Celtic supporters.

Is this down to Celtic doing something badly or is it more to do with the quality of players coming through are good enough to merit the interest and after the success of Ben Doak (Liverpool will make multi-millions selling him on) then that’s alerted others to the low-hanging fruit at the Celtic Academy?
Celtic is confirmed as a participant on the Lowland League again next season, with no sign of a Scottish Reserve League re-emerging. The pathway to the Celtic first team for players good enough is certainly there as Brendan Rodgers has shown this season but more needs to be done, especially with the use of more Academy players given a chance from the bench, rather than always giving minutes to squad players.

Best of luck to Daniel Cummings, the boy has every right to back himself and make the decisions that he feels right for his career. We’ll all wait and see how things pan out for the fourth promising Celtic talent to leave for England over the past few years.

Just another dirty little traitor that believes the grass will greener elsewhere, good luck with the bench warming if you get that far , don’t pretend to be a Celtic fan you ain’t , I would wish u all the best ,but then I,d be as two faced as Cummings .
Rodgers has stated that players have to reach the first team by merit, but even when young players get their chance and do a decent job they are immediately dropped whether they play well or not. Sinisalo was a perfect example. Sinisalo never made one mistake when he deputized for Schmeichel. Sinisalo is a great passer of the ball out of defense, looked confident but was dropped for the Aberdeen final for our veteran goalie who was not quite recovered from his shoulder injury. That decision in my opinion cost us the cup. Our club needs to adopt a policy of awarding players who come through the ranks with a big bonus if they can become regular first team players and we should pick young players in bounce league matches instead of flogging our tired players who hardly ever get a rest. For example, why was Hatate playing v Aberdeen when he had played every game in the long season and why was Sean McArdle not even in the cup final squad?
“Last summer Celtic lost both Daniel Cummings to Millwall”? Kelly.
