Highlights as three brilliant goals set impressive Celtic up for Ibrox trip

Celtic set themselves up for Saturday’s Glasgow Derby match at Ibrox with a convincing 3-0 win over Micky Mellon’s Dundee United. First half goals from outside the box from Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull gave Celtic a half time lead before Odsonne Edouard gave Neil Lennon’s side a sixth straight win.

The first half was comfortable and dominant for Celtic. They pressed well, slickly passed the ball about and really threatened. The score was 2-0 at the break thanks to fine finishes from Soro and Turnbull but it could have been more.

However, the second half brought worry for the Celtic support when Marc McNulty beat Christopher Jullien for pace and poked his shot beyond Vasilis Barkas. Jullien anticipated this and raced the ball to the line, sliding to clear the ball and injuring himself in the process.

The Frenchman’s knee collided with the goal frame as he saved a certain goal. Nir Bitton replaced him but Celtic lost some of their fluency and it was only until 25 minutes remained that Celtic once again clicked. There could have been more goals but Celtic had the third goal to put the game beyond doubt when Leigh Griffiths picked out Odsonne Edouard with a lofted pass before his French strike partner lobbed the goalkeeper.

A good result and an extremely dominant display from Neil Lennon’s men as they prepare for the trip to Ibrox on Saturday.
