Jurgen Klopp’s Landlord Rodgers scoops £3.75m in Liverpool Windfall

FORMER CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers is now £3.75million richer after selling the Merseyside property he has been renting to Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool FC.

Rodgers picked up a £15million pay-off from the Anfield Club when they sacked him in 2015, although when he left Celtic in February the £9million compensation was paid to Celtic from his latest club Leicester City after the former Liverpool boss left Celtic under the cover of darkness at the end of February.

The German joked about Rodgers being his landlord when he managed a Liverpool Legends side in the Celtic Foundation charity match last year. Now though his landlord is new owners Liverpool FC and the great news for Klopp is that he’s going to be allowed to stay on in the luxurious seven-bedroom Formby mansion absolutely rent free!

Liverpool plan to use the mansion both as an investment and a place to accommodate future managers, so presumably the Rangers manager Steven Gerrard might end up living there!

Klopp will have to pay tax on its rental value as the perk is regarded by HMRC as an addition to salary as a benefit-in-kind, Empire of the Kop have reported.
