Mikey Johnston set for sensational move to Brazil

Former Celtic winger Mikey Johnston looks set to make a stunning switch to join Brazilian side Flamengo. The Irish internationalist left Celtic Park last summer for West Brom but just one year after the switch, he could be headed to South America.

As reported by Express & Star, Johnston is nearing a £5m move to the Brazilian side, which would net WBA a profit on the £3m they paid Celtic.

However, Celtic may retain a sell-on fee for the player which could yet bring a small amount of cash back to Paradise for the 26-year-old.

In his time at Celtic, Johnston played 93 games, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 12 occasions. The player enjoyed playing for the club during an incredible period of success but injuries hampered his progression, often frustrating supporters as they could clearly see that there was a talented player there.

  1. Good luck to him, had every chance to claim a place in the first 11, but just wasn’t good enough.
