One for the Anoraks

Musing through my Sky Sports Year Book for 2017/18, as one does now and again, I noticed that on page 767 it says that Celtic have played in 55 Scottish Cup finals. I make it 56. Sky Sports Year Book says 37 wins (which is correct) and Celtic have certainly lost 18 Scottish Cup finals which would make it 55, but I think that have forgotten to allow for the 1909 Scottish Cup final when the Cup was withheld after the Hampden riot. Celtic certainly didn’t lose that one, but they did appear in the final – so I think it should be 56. Would anyone care to check my arithmetic? Or is it only sad pedants like me who bother about such things?
