Opinion: Bayo should be the one to leave Celtic after Klimala arrival, not Griffiths

Celtic’s search for a new striker has finally come to an end as the Hoops managed to sign 21-year-old Polish striker, Patryk Klimala, from Jagiellonia Bialystok after activating his €4 million release clause. The striker comes with a good reputation after having scored 7 goals in 18 appearances this season. But his arrival could spell the end for either Leigh Griffiths or Vakoun Issouf Bayo at Parkhead.

Leigh Griffiths has not been at his best for quite some time now. His 40-goal season is a memory of the past, as he has just managed to score 3 goals this season and has struggled to even make the pitch consistently after  his continuous battles with injuries. Rumours have been floating around that he could be the man to go, and they have just intensified after the Scot liked a tweet regarding his possible departure from the club and then went on to delete his Twitter account. But in our opinion, it should be the other striker, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who is shown the door.

Bayo has struggled to find his feet at Celtic since joining the club from Dunajska Streda in January of last year. While he had looked like a world beater in the Slovakian league, he has failed to replicate that form in Scotland and has managed just 1 goal in his entire Celtic career. Of course, injuries have played a huge part in that but time is surely running out on him quickly.

Unlike Bayo, Griffiths has shown that he can be the best striker in the country on his day. And at 29 years of age, he might still get back to his best if he can put his problems behind him for good. In our opinion, if we were to let one go in January, the choice should be pretty easy to make.
