Sunday’s showdown between title rivals can only help Celtic, if we beat Spartans

Watch below the official highlights from Celtic’s 6-0 win at New Douglas Park against Hamilton on Sunday. This win sets Celtic up for this Sunday’s early kick-off home match in the SWPL1 against Spartans, a match that Celtic will be strong favourites to win.

Six goals and six goalscorers against Hamilton, Celtic threatening from set-pieces, with the work done on the training field paying dividends on match-day and another clean sheet. On the down side, too many missed chances, that could prove costly with the three-way fight for the title very close indeed.

Celtic are currently in third spot, level on points with current Champions Glasgow City and two points behind the current leaders theRangers. The fixture list though was kind to them – remarkable that this also happened to Stephen Gerrard’s side this season as well – but on Sunday after Celtic have played – Glasgow City welcome theRangers and something must give there.

So three points from Fran Alonso’s side earlier in the day will put Celtic one point clear at the top of the table and then it’s a case of wait to see how the battle between our two title rivals plays out. Incidentally the only time so far this season that Celtic and Glasgow City have not won is when the two teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, with Celtic fighting back from 2-0 down at the internal and could even have won it in the end.

And the upcoming against theRangers in the league and the cup are going to be crucial to the Celtic season. Didd you see how the green and white side of Stockholm treated their Women’s Derby match with AIK at the weekend? See below…
