Team News – Leigh Griffiths ruled out, Edouard, the last striker standing

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is out of today’s Premiership match against Hibs at Celtic Park.

The striker, who pulled out of the Scotland squad to concentrate on improving his fitness, has suffered a slight calf injury as he has upped his fitness programme. He is also unwell with a bug so the combination of the two means that Celtic’s Number 9 will not feature against his old club today.

“Leigh is not available for Hibs,” Brendan Rodgers admitted.

“He got injured early on in the break and now he’s ill.

“It was a slight issue with his calf, so we shall see how he is. But Leigh made the right decision to miss the international games.

“If you want to play for Scotland and a club like Celtic you have to be physically right.

“He wants to do himself justice on the field.”

Odsonne Edouard as the last striker standing, will lead the line today. Celtic sold our other striker Moussa Dembele to Lyon on the last day of the transfer window for around £20million.

There was no time to bring in a replacement and that is surely a priority for the January window.

The likely Celtic side today is Gordon, Lustig, Benkovic, Boyata, Tierney, Brown, Ntcham, Forrest, McGregor, Rogic and Edouard.
