The ‘Exit Clause’ story you didn’t read on The Celtic Star, here’s why…

ONE story you did NOT read on The Celtic Star was the one about the supposed exit clause in the two year contract that the Australian teenager Daniel Arzani has with Celtic.

You may have read about that during the international borefest. It started with a Australian click-bait site suggesting that there was such a clause and unless Brendan Rodgers got his act together pronto and got the young Australian star into the Celtic first team, then he would use this clause to get himself back to Manchester City.

It used to be that ‘facts’ would be checked before a story would run in the media but these days it is enough that someone else has said it, in this case the Australian site. There were no quotes from anyone associated with Daniel Arzani on the Australian site but that didn’t matter and it was covered, somewhat gleefully by the BBC and the MSM in Scotland. It has to be said that quite a few of the Celtic sites covered it too – maybe it’s time to get wiser.

Willie Wallace also spoke about the player and got himself into some hot water – we clarified the Lisbon Lion’s position on all of that a week ago, see HERE.

We had earlier covered what Willie had said in his press interviews the day before – there were quotes used.

Yesterday Brendan Rodgers, inevitably, was asked at his press conference about the storm that brewed in the international break surrounding Daniel Arzani’s position at Celtic and the manager was able to clear up the situation re the so-called exit clause – you know the one that you didn’t read about on The Celtic Star!

“Daniel is a 19-year-old boy who has come in for two years to get experience.

“He has burst on to the scene in Australia and of course they will want him to do well. But there is no exit clause with Manchester City.

“He has adapted very well and much as people would love him to come in and play he wasn’t ready.

“Coming in after a World Cup with players a number of weeks ahead of him in terms of fitness and training.

“He is adapting to a more physical game but he is very happy and we have been very pleased in terms of how he is making progress.

“It’s not easy to just snap your fingers and come into a top team with top players who have done very well.

“But I have been really pleased with how he is developing and working and adapting to how we want to work.”
