The Celebration King

CELTIC refer to Mikael Lustig as their “Celebration King” in this cheeky tweet:

With the Ibrox Chairman making a complete arse of himself through his mad rants released as club statements – attacking a couple of suits who Celtic fans have little affection for anyway – it’s nice that the club see the funny side of this.

King, you would have thought would have had more pressing things to concern him.

Has he managed to open that UK bank account yet so that he can satisfy the instructions given to him by the Court of Session regarding making an offer for the remaining shares in the ‘club’?

What happened to his other share issue to raise the £6m ti fund the war-chest?

Has he heard from the SFA about his European licence? The deadline for the SFA submitting approvals to UEFA was yesterday? Is his ‘club’ on the list?

Is Steven Gerrard having a game of hide and seek on his first day in the job?

While a world class breakfast may be on offer when he eventually shows his face, there’s no sign of that transfer war chest at the moment.

Gerrard will be looking to find it though. Dillon McGeough is now where the transfer stories are at – certainly much more realistic in terms of being able to outspend Hibs on the player but was that the standard that Gerrard had in mind when he took the job?

He could be looking for King to make a different kind of statement sooner rather than later and back him with significant money to spend on players.

If King doesn’t do that – or can’t – the ‘brand’ that is Steven Gerrard will not allow too much damage to be done on the back of broken promises and assurances.

Being a Celebration King yourself seems a very long way away Dave, does it not?

Oh, anyone remember what happened when Celtic thought that it was a good idea to give a former Liverpool legend his first management job?
