Tisdale was under-qualified to head up Celtic’s recruitment

Tisdale should never have been in the job. Our next appointment should be someone worthy of a club of Celtic’s status…

Paul Tisdale has departed Celtic Football Club alongside Wilfried Nancy, and much like the Frenchman, the Englishman was very much out of his depth at a club the size and stature of Celtic, and was yet another in a long line of calamity appointments.

Tisdale was supposedly highly regarded in the game, being described as some sort of ‘football guru’ or ‘doctor’ and I was willing to give him a chance to prove himself, but like most of his predecessors he was nothing but a total failure with his uninspiring record speaking volumes for his time at the club.

Tisdale with all due respect didn’t have the quality required to fill the role he did at Celtic, with his former employers including the likes of Exeter City, MK Dons, Bristol Rovers, Colchester and Stevenage. That’s not a resume that screams ‘class’ does it? So you can only question his appointment in the first place.

With no disrespect to the aforementioned sides, it’s not exactly the calibre of clubs we should be looking for in someone’s CV. We need someone who’s operated at the top level of the game to come in and be our head of operations. Someone who has a bit of respect within the game, someone who is competent at a higher level that Tisdale ever reached during his time in the game.

Tisdale’s jacket was on a shoogly peg, and he deserved to go, he can have no complaints. We need a much more experienced person to take over such a vital position at the football club. Since moving aside with Martin O’Neill, to allow Nancy to take the reins, Shaun Maloney has been working on recruitment alongside Tisdale, so he will be well up to speed on all imminent transfer dealings.

Hopefully the club have learned from the mistakes of the past, and will look to appointment someone of the stature that a club of our standing deserves.

No cheap option or someone who is known to the club. Someone who possess the quality required to do the job, someone who will inspire the support and start to bring in players such as as Jota, Matt O’Riley, CCV and others of that ilk who improved Celtic and excited the support.

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

  1. Appointed by people who always look at the bottom line and never the horizon.
The people in charge think football is simple and that anyone can win in Scotland.
Everything is done on a shoestring budget while bonuses a paid left, right, and centre.
If you have no vision, ambition, or innovation then Celtic is the place for you.
